Cody was bred by Kim Blanton out of Ch Sheleea's Country Boy Von Raseac, CB
and Jerico's Lady Michayla, Kayla. I was looking at litters after several
unsuccessful attempts to breed Remi and I went to meet her on Easter Sunday in
1998. I liked her right away and told Kim I would get back to her the following
week. The next day, Remi bloated and torsioned. Her surgery was very successful
but with that happening, I didn't contact Kim as planned.
A couple of weeks later, when Remi was healed, I contacted Kim and she told me
that she still had the puppy I liked. I went right over and picked her up.
Cody was a handful of puppy! She had her own ideas about show training and
ended up being a marvelous free stacker. She taught me to be a better handler.
Cody was owner-handled to 8 single points and 1 major with limited showing.
I didn't show her when it was too hot, when she was in heat or in a false
whelp because I could tell that she wasn't giving it all she could during
those times. That made a pretty short window of opportunities for showing
her each year, but when she showed, she really showed. She took time off
for two litters and after he second litter, I decided to retire her.
Cody was the foundation for this era of my involvement with Danes. I can
see her fabulous temperament and sound qualities in her children and grandchildren.
